Irresistible Amish Apple Fritter Bread

A delightful twist on classic apple fritters, these Amish Apple Fritter Bread feature tender spiced apples encased in soft, fluffy bread, topped with a creamy glaze.

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.75 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 large Apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/3 cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 12 tablespoons Milk (Adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually mix dry ingredients and milk into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan.
  8. Layer half of the chopped apple and cinnamon sugar mixture, then repeat with remaining batter, apples, and sugar.
  9. Use a knife to swirl the top layer and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  11. Mix powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled bars.

Notes

For the best results, keep butter at room temperature. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
