Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (Sliced)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Brown the Patties: In an oven-safe skillet, heat 1 tbsp of butter and brown patties on each side until golden, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onions: In the same skillet, add sliced onions and remaining butter, sauté until translucent.
  4. Make the Gravy: Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir for 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Combine & Bake: Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  6. Rest & Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftover steaks can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be prepped a day in advance.
