Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt sugar in saucepan over medium heat until amber-colored caramel forms
  2. Pour caramel into 9-inch cake pan, tilting to coat bottom and sides
  3. Whisk eggs gently in large bowl
  4. Add condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla, and salt, mixing until smooth
  5. Pour custard mixture over cooled caramel
  6. Place cake pan in water bath and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes
  7. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours
  8. Run knife around edges and invert onto serving plate
