Broiled Salmon

Delicious broiled salmon fillet garnished with herbs and lemon slices

A quick and healthy method for cooking salmon fillets under the broiler, resulting in a crispy top and tender, flaky interior. Perfect for a weeknight dinner with minimal prep and cook time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (7 oz) skinless salmon fillets
  • 3 Tbsp light olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tsp lime zest (from 2 limes)
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 Tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler to high. Position the oven rack 6 inches from the heat source.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them on a broiler-safe baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Brush the mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  5. Broil for 6-10 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The top should be slightly crispy and golden.
  6. Garnish with fresh dill or parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For even cooking, ensure the salmon fillets are of uniform thickness.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to allow proper heat circulation.
  • Check for doneness by inserting a fork into the thickest part of the salmon; it should flake easily.
  • Serve with sides like steamed vegetables, quinoa, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
