Irresistible Gingerbread Brownies

Delicious gingerbread brownies combining festive spices with rich chocolate flavors, perfect for cozy gatherings and winter celebrations.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (dark brown for richer flavor)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, pecans or walnuts recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter and mix in 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon ground ginger, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until fully combined.
  6. If adding nuts, gently fold in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared 9×13 inch baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder and fresh spices for the best flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
