Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Scones

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Scones

A delightful and easy-to-make pastry that combines the rich, nutty flavor of peanut butter with sweet chocolate chips in a tender, flaky scone. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter and peanut butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until it comes together. Pat into a 7-inch circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with a little milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure all ingredients (especially butter and peanut butter) are cold to achieve a flaky texture.
  • Do not overwork the dough to avoid tough scones.
  • These scones are best enjoyed the day they are made but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • For a richer flavor, you can use chunky peanut butter and/or dark chocolate chips.
