Irresistibly Tender Soy Sauce Chicken

A nostalgic dish featuring tender chicken infused with a savory soy sauce marinade, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Chicken Thighs: Bone-in, skin-on
  • 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce: Low-sodium preferred
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar: Dark brown is best
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger, Grated
  • 1 Tablespoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 Green Onion, Chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large skillet, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil over medium heat. Stir until the brown sugar dissolves, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add Chicken: Place chicken thighs into the skillet, skin side down, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook to Perfection: Cover and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, turning the chicken halfway through.
  4. Rest the Chicken: Remove the chicken and let it rest on a plate for a few minutes.
  5. Reduce the Sauce: Increase the heat to high and let the sauce simmer for about 3-5 minutes until it thickens.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Plate the chicken over rice, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with chopped green onion.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate the chicken for an hour or overnight. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
