  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until creamy.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Fill each donut cavity 2/3 full with batter.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Dip tops of cooled donuts into glaze and let excess drip off.

Notes

Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
