Banana Bread Brownies

Decadent brownies with the rich flavor of banana bread, offering a perfect balance of fudgy chocolate and ripe bananas.

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
  • For the frosting (optional):
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas and melted butter.
  3. Add the brown and granulated sugar, mixing until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add to the banana mixture and mix gently.
  5. Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. For the frosting, brown butter in a saucepan, then blend with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Once cooled, frost the brownies and cut them into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
