Irresistible Banana Pudding

A comforting dessert featuring creamy homemade pudding, fresh bananas, and crunchy vanilla wafers, perfect for any occasion.

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually whisk in whole milk over medium heat until thickened and boiling (5–7 minutes).
  2. Whisk egg yolks in a small bowl, then temper by mixing in hot pudding mixture before returning it to the saucepan.
  3. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes while stirring, then remove from heat and mix in vanilla extract. Cool for 10-15 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  5. Layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, pudding mixture, and whipped cream in a trifle dish or cups. Repeat layers and top with whipped cream.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving to meld flavors.

For best results, use high-quality, fresh ingredients. Bananas should be at room temperature before slicing for optimal sweetness.
