Irresistibly Delicious Banana Pudding

A comforting and nostalgic banana pudding recipe featuring creamy custard, fresh bananas, and crunchy vanilla wafers.

  • 2 cups sliced ripe bananas
  • 2 cups fresh milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Heat over medium, stirring until thickened and bubbling (about 10 minutes).
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks. Slowly pour a ladle of hot milk mixture into yolks while whisking to temper.
  3. Return tempered yolks to saucepan and cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until thick.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In a serving dish, layer sliced bananas, vanilla wafers, and the custard, repeating layers.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
