Savory Beef Stroganoff

A hearty comfort food classic featuring tender beef in a creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Egg noodles or rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering—about 2 minutes.
  2. Add 1 pound of beef sirloin strips to the skillet in a single layer. Cook until browned, approximately 3-4 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté until translucent—around 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms and cook until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour in 2 cups of beef broth, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 teaspoon of mustard. Bring to a gentle simmer and let reduce for 5 minutes.
  6. Return the browned beef to the skillet and lower the heat. Gently stir in 1 cup of sour cream until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the beef mixture over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Ensure your beef is at room temperature before cooking for even cooking. Don’t allow the sour cream to boil.
