The Ultimate Best Spaghetti Meat Sauce

A comforting family classic that combines ground beef with a medley of aromatic herbs and tomatoes, creating a rich, savory spaghetti sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Pasta of choice (preferably spaghetti)

Instructions

  1. Heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, and drain any excess fat.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, seasoning with salt and pepper. Bring it to a gentle simmer, then lower the heat to medium-low.
  5. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. While the sauce is simmering, boil water in a separate pot and cook your pasta according to package instructions (typically 8-10 minutes).
  7. Drain the pasta, mix it with the sauce, or serve it separately. Top with freshly grated Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for even cooking. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary!
