Ultimate Black Pepper Chicken

A flavor-packed comfort dish featuring succulent chicken coated in freshly ground black pepper and savory sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • Salt, to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for about 3 minutes until translucent. Then, add the sliced bell pepper and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  3. Return the chicken back to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in the black pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and chicken broth, coating everything evenly.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch mixture now.
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Serve with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Use fresh black pepper for the best flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
