Irresistible Homemade Blackberry Pie

A comforting slice of summer made with fresh blackberries and a buttery, flaky crust, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 recipe homemade pie crust (recommended) OR 2 unbaked store-bought pie crusts
  • 6 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out one pie crust into a 12-inch circle. Place it into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. Mix together the blackberries, granulated sugar, and flour in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Pour the berry mixture into the lined pie pan.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and cover the filling. Seal edges and make slits in the top crust.
  6. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes.
  8. Cool on a wire rack for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

Use only ripe, in-season blackberries for the best flavor. If using frozen, ensure they are thawed and drained.
