  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla until just combined.
  5. Fold in the blueberries gently to avoid bursting them.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 14-16 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
  9. Cool slightly on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the biscuits.
