Garlic Butter Steak & Cheddar Potato Bake

A comforting layered casserole featuring juicy steak, cheesy potatoes, and rich garlic butter, perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights.

Ingredients

  • Ribeye or Sirloin Steaks
  • 4 large Russet Potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced to about 1/8 inch)
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 6 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary

Instructions

  1. Pat the steaks dry and season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  3. Let the steaks rest for at least 5 minutes.
  4. In the skillet, reduce heat and melt butter with minced garlic, stirring until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Peel and slice potatoes to 1/8 inch thick and toss with half of the garlic butter, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  6. In a baking dish, layer half the potatoes, add the sliced steak, and sprinkle with half the cheese.
  7. Add remaining potatoes, drizzle with garlic butter, and top with remaining cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. This dish can also be prepped a day in advance before baking.
