Chinese Style Ground Beef Pasta

A comforting fusion dish that combines the savory flavors of Chinese cuisine with the familiar comfort of pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or your choice)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté aromatics: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Brown the Beef: Increase the heat and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up until browned and cooked through.
  4. Add Sweet Veggies: Toss in the sliced bell pepper and minced ginger, sautéing for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  5. Build the Sauce: Drizzle in the soy sauce, simmering gently. If using cornstarch, whisk it with a few tablespoons of water until smooth and add it to the pan.
  6. Combine and Coat: Add the drained pasta into the beef mixture and toss until well coated (about 2-3 minutes).
  7. Season: Taste and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  8. Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and enjoy!

Notes

This dish is fully customizable; feel free to swap proteins or add seasonal vegetables. It pairs well with an Asian-inspired side salad or spring rolls.
