  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch cake pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the cocoa powder and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and whole milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

  8. Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream.
  10. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork.
  11. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake and let it sit for a bit.
  12. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  13. Serve with optional whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Notes

This cake gets better the longer it sits while soaking in the milks. Perfect for making ahead of time!
