  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dried fruits (like raisins or cranberries)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (like walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. Use a whisk to mix.
  2. In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Fold in the dried fruits and nuts until evenly distributed.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  7. Once risen, punch it down, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Gluten-free option: use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
