Festive Christmas Trifle Dessert

A delightful and eye-catching dessert perfect for holiday gatherings, featuring layers of red velvet and white cake with a rich creamy filling.

  • 1 box white cake mix (prepared per box directions)
  • 1 box red velvet cake mix (prepared per box directions)
  • Green food coloring (about 10 drops)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 8-ounce tub whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9×13-inch baking pans.
  2. Prepare each cake mix separately according to the box directions.
  3. Add about 10 drops of green food coloring to the white cake batter. Stir until evenly colored.
  4. Pour each batter into the prepared pans. Bake for 23-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool completely in the pans.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and whipped topping until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
  7. Crumble both cakes into large chunks and set aside about 1/4 cup of crumbs from each cake for topping.
  8. In your trifle bowl, layer the cake crumbles and creamy filling alternately.
  9. Sprinkle the reserved cake crumbs on top for a festive finishing touch.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  11. Scoop out generous portions and enjoy!

Notes

Consider using gel food coloring for deeper color and flavor. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
