Creamy Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque

A comforting, rich bisque that combines succulent crab and shrimp in a creamy broth, reminiscent of family gatherings and coastal kitchens.

  • 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • C. celery, chopped
  • C. green onions, chopped
  • 1 ½ C. heavy whipping cream
  • 2 C. whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 8 oz. cooked shrimp, cut into pieces
  • 8 oz. lump crab meat
  • 1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add celery and green onions; sauté until softened (3-4 minutes).
  3. Stir in the flour and sauté for another minute to form a roux.
  4. Heat the milk and pour it into the saucepan, whisking to combine without lumps.
  5. Whisk in the heavy cream, tomato paste, Old Bay seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a low simmer.
  6. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the bisque thickens.
  7. Gently stir in the shrimp and crab meat, cooking until heated through (about 5 minutes).
  8. Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

Use fresh seafood for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
