Cranberry Orange Sour Cream Scones

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in cranberries and orange zest.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together sour cream, egg, and vanilla.
  6. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Turn dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  8. Cut into wedges and place on a lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Make sure your butter is cold for a flaky texture. Scones can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
