Heavenly Green Bean Casserole with Fresh Green Beans

A delightful Green Bean Casserole made with fresh green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and topped with gluten-free French fried onions, perfect for holiday gatherings.

  • 3 pounds fresh green beans
  • 3 (10.5 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2.8 ounces gluten-free French Fried Onions

Instructions

  1. Rinse the green beans under cool water, snip the ends, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Place in a slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, diced onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the sauce over the green beans in the slow cooker and stir to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 8 hours until tender. Alternatively, refrigerate and cook the next day.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle French fried onions on top before serving hot.

Notes

For added brightness, squeeze lemon juice over the beans before adding the onions. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
