Deliciously crispy baked mozzarella sticks that are a healthier alternative to the traditional fried version. Perfect for parties or cozy family gatherings!

  • 12 sticks (12 ounces) Low-Moisture Mozzarella String Cheese
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or Cooking Spray
  • Marinara Sauce for Serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mozzarella sticks: Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and cut them in half if desired. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the sticks in a single layer.
  2. Freeze the sticks: Place them in the freezer for at least 30-45 minutes until firm.
  3. Prepare the breading station: Set up three dishes with flour mixture, egg wash, and breadcrumb mixture prepared separately.
  4. Breading the sticks: Roll each frozen stick in flour mixture, dip in egg wash, and coat with breadcrumb mixture before placing back on the baking sheet.
  5. Freeze again: Return to the freezer for another 1-2 hours or overnight until sticks are solid.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly drizzle sticks with olive oil and bake for 9-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Cool and serve: Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving with marinara sauce.

Notes

Ensure mozzarella sticks are at room temperature before assembling. Freeze thoroughly for best results.
