Delicious Dirty Rice with Ground Beef

A comforting and flavorful Dirty Rice recipe that combines ground beef with aromatic vegetables and spices, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 1 cup white rice (long grain or jasmine)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of chicken broth to a boil, add rinsed rice, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat, add ground beef, and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
  4. Add chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
  5. Sprinkle in paprika, thyme, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked rice, mix well to coat with beef and vegetables.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and parsley.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using a bay leaf while simmering the chicken broth. This dish reheats beautifully, making it perfect for leftovers.
