  • 3 tbsp Earl Grey tea
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt

  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, Earl Grey tea, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Whisk together buttermilk and egg in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the flour blend.
  5. Shape the dough into a rectangle and cut it into squares, then triangles.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until lightly golden.
  7. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes.
  8. Make the lemon glaze and drizzle over warm scones before serving.

Notes

Using cold butter is key for achieving a good texture. Feel free to customize with add-ins like chocolate chips or fruits.
