Neapolitan Pizza Dough

Create authentic Neapolitan pizza dough at home with this easy recipe, featuring a crispy, airy crust that is the star of your pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour (preferably “00” flour)
  • 325ml lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix lukewarm water with yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Slowly add the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to combine. Add olive oil and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and allow it to rise for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide it into two equal portions, and roll each into a ball. Let them rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to its highest setting (about 250°C/500°F) and place a pizza stone inside if available.
  8. On a floured surface, gently stretch each ball into a circle, about 12 inches in diameter.
  9. Add your favorite toppings and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality ingredients and allow adequate fermentation time for flavor development.
