Easy Strawberry Shortcake

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons additional sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a square baking pan.
  2. Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add flour and milk, alternating between each.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  7. Slice strawberries and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar, letting them sit for 10 minutes.
