Delightful eggnog scones with a rich browned butter white chocolate glaze, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup all-natural cane sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 10 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup eggnog
  • 2 oz premium white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter (for glaze)
  • 2 teaspoons eggnog (for glaze)
  • Freshly grated nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the cold butter into the flour mixture and blend until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and eggnog until combined.
  5. Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a rectangle, and cut into triangles or circles.
  7. For slightly puffier scones, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For the glaze, brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in white chocolate until smooth. Add eggnog and mix well.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones and garnish with nutmeg.

Notes

Ensure butter is very cold for best texture. Use gourmet eggnog for added richness.
