Irresistibly Delicious Garlic Butter Baked Scallops

Delightful seafood dish featuring tender scallops baked in a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 ½ pounds fresh or frozen sea scallops
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. If using frozen scallops, thaw them completely in the refrigerator overnight or in a bowl of cold water for about 2 hours.
  2. Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  5. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, parsley, thyme, and Parmesan cheese until fully incorporated.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Place scallops in a single layer in a baking dish.
  9. Pour the garlic butter sauce generously over the scallops.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until opaque and tender.
  11. Sprinkle fresh parsley over the scallops for garnish and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Make sure to not overbake the scallops to avoid a rubbery texture. Feel free to customize herbs or add spices for variation.
