Garlic Butter Oven Baked Tilapia

A comforting and flavorful dish of tilapia fillets baked in a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners and entertaining.

  • 4 tilapia fillets (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry and drizzle with olive oil; sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Place the fillets in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add lemon juice, lemon zest, parsley, paprika, and Parmesan cheese to the melted butter, allowing it to simmer for an additional minute.
  6. Pour the garlic butter sauce over the seasoned tilapia.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Sprinkle with additional parsley and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
