Irresistible Garlic Parmesan Chicken

  • 2 tsp dried parsley (plus some for garnish)
  • 1 to 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Slice the chicken breasts lengthwise to create thinner pieces. Season with salt, pepper, and parsley. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat and sear chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce Base: Lower heat, add garlic, and sauté for 30 seconds. Add butter, then sprinkle in flour to create a roux. Cook for 2 minutes until light golden.
  3. Incorporate the Broth: Gradually pour in chicken broth, whisking to avoid lumps. Let simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Cream It Up: Add heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, honey, bouillon, onion powder, oregano, and basil. Stir and let cook for another 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  5. Finish with Parmesan: Stir in freshly grated Parmesan cheese and lemon juice until melted.
  6. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the chicken to the skillet, coating completely in sauce. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Serve Hot: Enjoy with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, or salad, garnished with parsley.

Notes

For best results, use freshly grated Parmesan. Can substitute for dairy-free options if desired.
