Grenadine Coca-Cola Float

A ruby-red twist on the classic float, combining fizzy Coca-Cola, creamy vanilla ice cream, and sweet-tart grenadine syrup for a stunning layered drink that’s both refreshing and indulgent.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups (360ml) Coca-Cola (chilled)
  • 2 scoops (about 1 cup) premium vanilla ice cream
  • 2 tbsp grenadine syrup
  • ½ cup crushed ice (optional)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish)
  • Orange slice (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep glass: Chill a 16oz fountain glass in freezer for 10 minutes.
  2. First layer: Pour grenadine syrup into bottom of glass.
  3. Ice layer: Add crushed ice if using (creates a buffer for slow mixing).
  4. Soda layer: Slowly pour Coca-Cola down the side of the glass to preserve layers.
  5. Float ice cream: Gently add scoops of vanilla ice cream using a spoon.
  6. Finish: Top with whipped cream, cherry, and orange slice.
  7. Serve: Provide a long spoon and straw for layered enjoyment.

Notes

  • For clear layers: Pour Coke over the back of a spoon
  • Adult version: Add 1oz dark rum before ice cream
  • Homemade grenadine: Mix 1 cup pomegranate juice with 1 cup sugar, simmered until syrupy
  • For extra fizz: Use Coca-Cola from glass bottles
  • Presentation tip: Serve on a napkin-lined saucer with vintage soda spoon
