Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: Boil peeled and cut potatoes in cold water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain, mash with milk and butter, and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat vegetable oil, sauté onions and garlic until soft, add ground beef and brown for 6-8 minutes.
  3. Create the Gravy: Sprinkle flour over beef, add broth and Worcestershire sauce, simmer until thick, about 5 minutes.
  4. Serve the gravy over the mashed potatoes.
