Ultimate Hamburger Green Bean Casserole

A heartwarming blend of seasoned ground beef, green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and crispy French fried onions, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk or beef broth
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1½ cups French fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup mushrooms, diced and sautéed (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup or mustard
  • Cooked bacon crumbles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, combine green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, paprika, and sautéed mushrooms. Mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish and top with cheddar cheese.
  5. Sprinkle French fried onions over the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Can be assembled a day ahead and baked directly from the fridge.
