Healthy Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps

Healthy Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps

Healthy Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps are a light, flavorful, and low-carb alternative to traditional tacos. Ground turkey is seasoned with taco spices and served in crisp lettuce cups, topped with fresh vegetables and a creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick, nutritious meal.

Ingredients

– 1 tbsp Olive Oil

– 1 medium Yellow Onion, finely chopped

– 2 cloves Garlic, minced

– 1.5 lbs Lean Ground Turkey (93/7)

– 1 tbsp Chili Powder

– 2 tsp Cumin

– 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

– 1 tsp Dried Oregano

– 1/2 tsp Salt (or to taste)

– 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

– 1 (8 oz) can Tomato Sauce

– 2 tbsp Water

– 1 tbsp Lime Juice

– 1-2 heads of Lettuce (Iceberg or Butter Lettuce)

– Optional Toppings: Diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream or Greek yogurt, chopped cilantro, pickled jalapenos, and salsa.

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add ground turkey and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and taco seasoning, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add water and simmer for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
  5. Spoon the turkey mixture into lettuce cups.
  6. Top with diced tomatoes, avocado, a dollop of Greek yogurt or sour cream, and optional shredded cheese.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Use lettuce leaves that are cup-shaped, like butter or iceberg, for easier wrapping.
  • This dish is great for meal prep; store the turkey mixture separately from the toppings.
  • For a dairy-free option, omit the cheese and use dairy-free yogurt.
