Easy Homemade Churros

Delightful homemade churros with a crispy exterior and soft interior, coated in cinnamon-sugar and perfect for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil and heat until boiling, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Let the dough cool slightly, then mix in eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe the dough into hot oil in 3- to 4-inch lengths, frying in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels, then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Serve warm with chocolate sauce or caramel for dipping.

Notes

Ensure oil temperature is monitored for best frying results. Un-fried churros can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
