Homemade Classic Cake Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate glaze for topping
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Whisk until well mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out doughnuts.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dip in chocolate glaze and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.
