Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional: 2 cloves minced garlic
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (cilantro, parsley)
  • Optional: Spices (cumin, nigella seeds)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
  2. Add yogurt and warm water; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let the dough rest for at least 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and roll each into a thin circle.
  6. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side until puffed and lightly browned.
  8. Brush with olive oil or melted butter and add toppings if desired.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
