Homemade Masala Chai

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons masala chai powder
  • 12 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
  • 1 cup milk
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Cardamom pods
  • Fresh ginger
  • Cloves

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Add the masala chai powder and sugar to the boiling water, stirring for about 30 seconds to dissolve.
  3. Simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the spices to release their flavors.
  4. Carefully add 1 cup of milk and allow it to return to a gentle boil.
  5. Strain the chai into cups using a fine-mesh strainer.

Notes

It’s best if your milk is at room temperature to prevent curdling when boiling.
