Honey Garlic Glazed Shrimp Skewers

Honey Garlic Glazed Shrimp Skewers

Succulent shrimp skewers coated in a sweet and savory honey-garlic glaze, perfect for BBQs or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • Wooden or metal skewers
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro or green onions (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sriracha (if using), and olive oil. Whisk until the honey is well dissolved. Reserve 1/2 cup of this marinade in the refrigerator for glazing later.
  2. Toss the peeled and deveined shrimp in the remaining marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for 20-60 minutes.
  3. If you’re using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for 30 minutes to avoid them burning on the grill.
  4. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, about 4-5 shrimp per stick, ensuring they’re snug but not overcrowded.
  5. Fire up your grill to medium-high heat (400-450°F / 200-230°C) and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  6. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, brushing both sides with the reserved glaze in the last 1-2 minutes.
  7. The shrimp will be done when they are opaque and firm to the touch. Remove from the grill and allow to rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Drizzle with toasted sesame oil and garnish with sesame seeds and fresh herbs. Serve immediately.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
