  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well before each addition. Stir in sour cream and vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. In a small bowl, combine finely chopped nuts with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out dough into a thin rectangle and spread the nut mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Tightly roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch wide cookies.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a softer cookie, reduce baking time; for crunchier, bake a bit longer. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
