Kahlua Buttercream Frosting

A delightful twist on traditional buttercream, incorporating Kahlua coffee liqueur for a unique and luscious flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua coffee liqueur
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and pale in color (about 2-3 minutes).
  2. Incorporate the powdered sugar gradually, mixing on low speed initially to avoid a sugar cloud, then increase to medium speed until combined.
  3. Add the Kahlua and vanilla extract, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  4. Adjust consistency by adding heavy cream one tablespoon at a time if the frosting is too thick.
  5. Fluff the mixture on high speed for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  6. Use immediately on cakes or cupcakes, or store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

Ensure to use room temperature butter for the best texture. Refrigerate leftovers and let sit at room temperature before re-whipping.
