Melt-in-Your-Mouth Sugar Cookies

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder; set aside.
  3. Cream together softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and coat in granulated sugar.
  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Let cool on wire racks.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. For thicker cookies, chill your dough before rolling.
