Irresistible Mushroom Cheese Sandwich

A comforting blend of sautéed mushrooms and melted cheese between crispy bread, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of whole-grain or artisanal bread
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (cremini and button)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (optional, such as parsley or thyme)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a preheated skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms; cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and tender. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Remove mushrooms from heat and set aside in a bowl.
  4. In the same skillet, place one slice of bread and top with the mushroom mixture and shredded cheese.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread.
  6. Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice the sandwich in half and serve hot with a side salad or soup.

Notes

Store leftover sandwiches in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet for the best texture.
