  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, freshly toasted
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the cocoa mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined. Fold in the chopped pecans and shredded coconut.
  5. Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
