Old Fashioned Custard Pie

A simple and nostalgic custard pie recipe that evokes memories of family gatherings, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie shell in a deep-dish pie plate and prick the bottom with a fork.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs until well mixed.
  4. Add sugar, salt, and nutmeg to the beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.
  5. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously.
  6. Add pure vanilla extract to the mixture and blend until smooth.
  7. Carefully pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the center is set and lightly browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure eggs are at room temperature. The pie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
