Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the orzo and toast for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  6. Add chicken broth, heavy cream, dried parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until the orzo is al dente.
  8. Stir in Parmesan cheese and the cooked sausage, simmering for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving hot.

Notes

You can substitute heavy cream with a dairy-free alternative or use other small pasta shapes in place of orzo.
