Orange Candied Almonds

A delightful sweet snack with a vibrant flavor from fresh orange juice and zest, perfect for any occasion.

  • ⅓ cup white granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (tightly packed)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Zest from 1 orange
  • 1 egg white
  • 1½ tsp fresh orange juice
  • 2 cups raw almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine white sugar, brown sugar, salt, and orange zest. Stir well and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy, about 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in fresh orange juice.
  5. Add raw almonds to the egg white mixture and toss to coat.
  6. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the almonds and mix well.
  7. Spread the almond mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  9. Let cool completely on the baking sheet.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. These almonds can be made a week in advance.
